Wow. Just wow. In looking at my last post, it strikes me how much change my little family and I have undergone.
We have:
- moved house,
- started renovating said house,
- had another gorgeous baby girl we named Eleonora Frances,
- sent other baby off to her first and now her second year of preschool,
- changed jobs (hubby)
- started a business (me).
That’s a lot of new beginnings in a little under a year and a half.
I re-re-re-started my art back in September and am going strong with a cohesive body of work. I mentioned earlier my lack of discipline to follow through with a theme. Thankfully, I have found my way. At least for now, I am focused and absolutely in love with my creations. The pieces are smaller than I usually work, allowing emphasis on little bits of gorgeous fabric that are so beautiful, it’s hard to imagine how they can be improved with sewing, paint or other media. In addition, I am following a series of embroidery courses with a professional haute couture embroiderer in Lyon, France. So far, I have learned traditional, beads & sequins, and the very beginning of haute couture methods using a hook and loom. These courses have breathed new life into my work. I’ve even decided upon my signature! Check out the gallery below.
That said, I am starting my business from scratch, and like every artist at this point in their career, the risks are a bit daunting. Despite the stress of the unknown, I have this voice in my ear saying, “Right, Holly. Show us how bad you want this!”
So here we go, 2018. Show me what you got. I’m ready!
