I sat in my studio researching ideas for the piece I had scheduled for the day and wasn’t convinced of anything I was seeing. So I went to my materials to see if that sparked anything. Still nothing. But I noticed that I kept being drawn to these bright, shiny pinks, and this remnant of embroidered lycra that sparkled in the light. I went back to my list and “Fun, carefree times with friends” jumped out at me. And so “Pass the ‘Pagne” was born.
The whole day, I sat and played with happy colors, fabrics I’ve been wanting to do something with for a long time, and fun phrases and humorous ideas that just kept bubbling up (see what I did there?). This was in perfect harmony of the joy of my gratitude focus of the day. There have been so many beautiful, blissful, carefree days spent lounging and giggling on the beach with friends. So many fun nights out, getting all dressed up in cocktail dresses and heels, dancing the night away, laughing so hard my sides ached, trundling home as the sun was coming up, happy and tired and grateful for the girls (and guys!) I have around me. Now that I’m a mom, I don’t get out much. And I am SO OK with that! I had several years of going out all the time, so I don’t feel like I’ve missed out. The rare occasion when I do get a day of farniente on the beach, I am so grateful for it, most especially because I know when it’s done, I also have my sweet little family to go home to.
So I raise a glass a bubbles to fun times with incredible friends in one of the most beautiful places on earth!
